Our story starts in Bordeaux (France), at the heart of the vineyards on the family estate. The rare beauty of this natural setting inspires us every day. The vine and grapes possess exceptional powers for the skin - powers which were simply waiting to be developed.
1993 : The encounter that changed my life
“Do you know that you are throwing away treasures?”
This sentence changed my life. It marks my meeting with Professor Vercauteren in 1993, during the grape harvest season in my family's vineyards of Château Smith Haut Lafitte.
1995 : Polyphenols
“We extract treasures full of beneficial effects from the vine.”
Two years later, in 1995, having registered a patent for extracting and stabilising grape-seed Polyphenols, we created the Caudalie brand.
1999 : My first Vinothérapie Spa

My husband and I planned to create, within our family's vineyards at Château Smith Haut Lafitte, a dream and well-being place where we could offer divine treatments using our products.
2001 : Anti-ageing Resveratrol
“There is no miracle cure for skin ageing, there is a patent!”
The vine produces Resveratrol naturally to defend itself. In 2001, we were the first to use this high-performance natural active ingredient in a cosmetic application (brevet N°WO9903816). Ourgrapevine-extracted Resveratrol, stabilised and titrated, is combined with essential fatty acids for a better affinity with the skin and more anti-ageing efficacy.

Professor Joseph Vercauteren is one of the world's specialists in Polyphenols. He is the Director of the Laboratory of Pharmacognosy at Montpellier's University of Pharmacy in France, associated with the CNRS (French National Center for Scientific Research). He has been the scientific advisor of our research centre since the creation of Caudalie.
Thanks to the support of pharmacists who believed in us, Caudalie made an appearance in a few pharmacies in Bordeaux, with 2 face creams and nutritional supplements based on grape-seed Polyphenols. The following year, we signed a Research Convention with the Faculty of Pharmacy at Bordeaux, and set up our own team of researchers. The brand spread to other pharmacies and we added other innovative products to the range.
Whilst carrying out groundwork on the estate, we discovered a hot spring 500 meters underground. We began to use all the revitalising beneficial effects of this water, combining them with vine and grape extracts to create unique Spa treatments. As a result, we created the first Vinothérapie spa in 1999.
In 2000, we launched the Vinexpert Firming Serum with Resveratrol. Since then success has always been present. In the meantime, numerous scientific publications and prestigious researchers have confirmed the anti-ageing efficacy of Resveratrol.
This sap - as known by the women and the winemakers who work in the vines - erases dark spots on hands and face to reveal a radiant complexion. Professor Vercauteren identified and patented the molecule offering these unique properties: Viniferine (patent no. EP1519709). The Vinoperfect range was then launched and included our future bestseller: Vinoperfect Radiance Serum Complexion Correcting.
Its formula is an exclusive blend of the 3 Caudalie patents (Resveratrol, Viniferine and Polyphenols) combined with the most effective molecules on the market for treating all the signs of ageing (wrinkles, lack of firmness, dark spots, dull complexion, dryness etc). All contained in a divine texture with an oak rose fragrance. The results are spectacular. When I go on holiday, this is virtually all I take with me.
Resveratrol – the star active ingredient of the new Vinexpert range – treats skin ageing at its source. Its action at intra- and extra-cellular level stimulates the production of collagen and elastin and stops the glycation responsible for deep wrinkles. Facial contour are redefined. The results are visible at the naked eye.
